On Sunday 18th September the band took part in the National Finals of the Brass Band Championships at Cheltenham race course. After an overnight stay in Tewkesbury, it was an early start to get to the race course for 8-15am. The band were drawn to play 11th out of 16 of the best 4th section bands across the country. The piece was ‘New Beginnings’ by Fredrick Schjelderup.
We were delighted to be awarded 4th place and received some great comments from the adjudicators:
‘ All lines played with a style, class and sound so rare (in most sections). MD leads this so well – a classy section. R to U was a pleasure to listen to.’
